This painting is a copy of the famous George Stubbs 1784 painting of a Spaniel in a Landscape. Oil on canvas in an ornate reproduction period frame measuring 42.5 x 31.5 inches. It is signed John Gray who is a respected copyist but this is not his work. So, we can only assume the painting sets out to deceive and has been made to look like the work of a known copyist. It was probably created to serve the decorators' market originally. In any event, genuine fake or not, it is a lovely and imposing picture for the right space.
