Heron Landing. Driftwood sculpture assembled onto a stainless steel frame and mounted on a marble inlaid base by James Doran Webb. Approx 70 x 110 x 108 cms.
Hundreds of hours in the making, this bird sculpture is made from driftwood, each piece carefully selected and placed to match the flow of the muscles in the body. The wood is found along the shorelines and riverbeds of the Phillippines archipelago and is from a number of indigenous species, all dense enough to withstand years and years of exposure to the extreme tropical climate. Suitable for life outdoors and will look fabulous set by a stream or pond or similar but it's just as impressive as an indoor piece. If kept outdoors the polished beeswax sheen will gradually fade and revert to the natural finish and colour of 'raw' driftwood. It is advised that the inlaid marble base be removed if it is to be kept outdoors. About the Artist
